Developer gets closer to adding more than 2,000 residential units in Frisco

Developer HALL Group received approval from Frisco's planning commission to not only add 2,000 residential units to HALL Park, but to build towers more than 25-floors tall on the eastern side of the project — though final approvals must go through the city council.

That's according to a report from the Dallas Morning News.

The redevelopment of the 162-acre project would involve creating new housing — intended to be luxury apartments and condominiums — and other mixed-use space, including the possibility of hotels, retail, a performance center and park. Show Full Story

"We believe if we don't add a live-work-play mixed-use we are going to be a declining asset, which is not good for the city, not in our interest and not in our neighbors' interest," Craig Hall, chairman and founder of HALL Group, told city planners.

HALL Group began developing the project in 1997, after purchasing the property more than 30 years ago, and it includes abut 2.5 million square feet of office space. With the change, Hall says that it will remain predominantly an office project.

"Probably 70 to 75 percent would be office with the addition of maybe one or two hotels and the residential and service retail," said Hall.

The majority of the housing and other additions would be built on what's currently surface parking lots, according to the report.

Potential new towers for the project, which have been greenlighted to soar about 25 floors, must be constructed on the eastern, Tollway-side of HALL Park. Currently, the tallest building maxes out at 12 floors, the Morning News noted.
